Stock Market Closing

Stock market just can’t catch a break lately. For the second day in a row, the main indices took a hit—thanks a lot, HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries.

NSE Nifty 50 had slipped 34.1 points, closing at 24,716.6. The BSE Sensex didn’t fare much better, dropping 77.26 points to close at 81,373.75. Basically, not the most exciting day for anyone hoping for a market rally.

Foreign Portfolio Investors: Still Selling

  • For the 2nd  consecutive day, foreign investors are selling Indian stocks
  • Total value sold: Rs 2,589 crore (give or take, that’s a hefty chunk)
  • Basically, they’re still not feeling it

Domestic Institutional Investors: Buying Spree Continues

  • Local institutional buyers aren’t slowing down
  • Tenth session in a row as net buyers (yeah, ten!)
  • Amount bought: Rs 5,313 crore
